I was the Broad’s fifth artist-in-residence from 2016 – 2017. During my residency, I became curious about how medical science began in civilization, and how it evolved to the present moment. I incorporated periods of deep observation, data gathering, research and experimentation in my artistic process. Pulling different knowledge and ideas from the past and the present, I began exploring topics such as progress, knowledge, belief, discovery, and the cycle of exploration. Some of the projects I created during my residency are now in the Broad’s permanent collection and being exhibited throughout the campus.
