Farewell series employs the cut-out papers from the laser cutting I did for Water, is Taught by Thirst series. I first traced waterways from topographical maps of Central Adirondacks, Central Florida and Greater Boston, then removed all the waterways by laser cutting. I saved the cut-out papers from laser cutting process and used these papers for collage. In this body of work, shapes of rivers, ponds, and lakes become active characters, sometimes transforming themselves to become organs and veins.
I was imagining that the bodies of water were saying good-bye to us. The titles of each work begin with “Love,” “Onward and upward,” “Over and out,” and “In solidarity.”
