My History not my memory
My History not my self
Xerox transfer on Japanese paper
10’ x 15’
How do you separate your memory from what you imagined? When does your imagination take over your memory?
"My History: not my self" is an installation of xerox transfer prints with an enlarged image of a school photograph of Japanese female students from my father’s photo album. Enlarged to a nearly life size scale, the entire installation covers a 10’x15’ wall. The size of each print is approximately 11”x 15” and reveals only a portion of each individual. Only the top portion of each sheet is attached to the wall by pushpins; arranged correctly to make up a whole picture. These sheets quietly flutter as the viewers walk by.
